The city \u003cb\u003e Ghom\u003c\/b\u003e (also Gom, Ghoum, Goum) is located in the center of Iran, about 100 km south of the capital city of Tehran. Since building on an old tradition of rug-making was not an option in \u003cb\u003e Ghom\u003c\/b\u003e, patterns were and are adopted from other areas. With time, however, a unique style has emerged from this. The silk rugs from Ghom are among the most famous and highest quality rugs in the world today. The panel of Ghom rugs often has a light background and is decorated with finely drawn medallion patterns or continuous boteh or vase patterns.  This old Ghom is \u003cb\u003e more than 40 years old\u003c\/b\u003e and a true collector's item.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003e\u003cb\u003ePatterns\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003e The luxuriant \u003cb\u003eflower motifs\u003c\/b\u003e of this Ghom are elegant and varied. The graceful vegetative symbols representing flowers, leaves and branches are artfully intertwined.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e The \u003cb\u003eembellished edging (border)\u003c\/b\u003e forms a beautiful contrast to the center and creates a transition at the edge of the rug.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e The repeating elements in the center field of this Ghom rug have no specific center (so-called \u003cb\u003e repeating pattern\u003c\/b\u003e). The repeating pattern has a calming but not boring effect. Rugs with \u003cb\u003e repeating patterns\u003c\/b\u003e are also called patterned.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e The background of this Ghom is off white. Furthermore, the color yellow beige dominates the overall impression. It has had owners before you who have cherished and used it.  It was hand knotted about \u003cb\u003e 1950\u003c\/b\u003e. It has been thoroughly cleaned and only partially restored condition but is in good condition. We have not completely restored this Ghom because we think it is as it is effect. If you would like, we will of course restore the rug further for you. Virgin wool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties; due to the wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on living climate and muffles sound. The weft and warp threads of this Ghom are made of \u003cb\u003ecotton\u003c\/b\u003e.
