However, this rug has been knotted in \u003cb\u003eChina\u003c\/b\u003e. \u003cb\u003eAubusson\u003c\/b\u003e is a French community in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in the Département Creuse. Aubusson is world-famous for its rug and tapestry factories. Woven French rugs are also called \u003cb\u003eSavonnerie rugs \u003c\/b\u003e, after the most famous rug manufacturer in France. The name Savonnerie is derived from the place of production, an old soap factory. The color scheme is adapted to the fashion of the upper middle classes of the 18th century and designed for impressive representative rooms. The design elements are part of a spatial concept: the stucco, the furniture, its upholstery and the floor were often designed accordingly. The medallion decorated with tendrils and the equally decorated corners have a strong architectural structure. In Aubusson, rugs were made in the style of the Savonnerie manufactory, but were often of a slightly lower quality and knotting density than the Savonnerie rugs. However, some weavers of the Aubusson manufactories had such a good reputation that they received orders from the French royal court.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e\nVery few people think of France, when it comes to the classic origin countries of rugs. However, for centuries traditional rugs have been made in \u003cb\u003eFrance\u003c\/b\u003e. \u003cb\u003eGobelin\u003c\/b\u003e rugs have been produced in France since \u003cb\u003e1607\u003c\/b\u003e and as early as in the year \u003cb\u003e1627\u003c\/b\u003e the cloth manufacturers in \u003cb\u003eAubusson\u003c\/b\u003e were granted the privilege by Louis XIII to produce rugs with the \u003cb\u003e\"façon de Turquie\"\u003c\/b\u003e seal.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e\nThe Aubusson rugs are distinct from the tapestry and Gobelin rugs. This is confusing and often done incorrectly, as tapestry is the French word for rug. Strictly speaking, however, in Germany we understand tapestry rugs to mean only hand-woven or hand-made fabrics that have a motif (so-called pictorial rugs). \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003e\u003cb\u003ePatterns\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003e  The edge of the rug is decorated with an \u003cb\u003eedging (border)\u003c\/b\u003e. The border forms a glorious contrast to the center.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e The luxuriant \u003cb\u003eflower motifs\u003c\/b\u003e of this Aubusson are elegant and varied. The graceful vegetative symbols representing flowers, leaves and branches are artfully intertwined.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e  The background of this Aubusson is blue gray.  The border features blue gray and yellow beige. It has had owners before you, who have cherished and used it. It was hand woven about \u003cb\u003e1980\u003c\/b\u003e and has served devotedly ever since. All in all, it is still in good condition and can still bring satisfaction for decades. We have not restored this Aubusson, because we think it is as it is a special charm. For the production of high quality Chinese rugs the coat of the Tibetan goat is used. The knot density is, as is typical in Chinese rugs, relatively low and the pile is shorn long. \n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e\nWool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties: Due to wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt.
