dining room

Dining room There are basically two alternatives for placing a carpet in the dining room. It either occupies the central position, as under the table, or it lies away from the action, out of reach of chair legs and the like. When lining the table, the size of the rug is just as important as its firmness. It should be big enough for the chairs to have enough space and not slide over the edges too often. The fabric should of course be correspondingly strong and not too thin or flexible, and only rugs that are really very densely and thickly woven come into consideration if they are to hold up under these circumstances. It is also important to ensure that the colors are washable so that stains from food or liquids can be removed without damaging the carpet.

More formal dining rooms, where guests are not often entertained, are of course ideal for a rug. At the other end of the scale is the kitchen/living room, in which, as the heart of the house, a rug under the dining table is inevitably subject to severe wear and tear. With a rug that lies under the dining table, colors and patterns do not necessarily play the main role. If, on the other hand, the rug is laid out away from the actual dining area, another eye-catcher is created there, which forms a contrast to the table surface and should be carefully coordinated in terms of colors and patterns with the furniture, eg chair covers and curtains.
