Place of origin
This rug has been hand-knotted with Persian knots in the small town of Abadeh and the surrounding villages. Abadeh is located between Isfahan and Shiraz. The signature color of Abadeh rugs is brick red. This old Abadeh is more than 40 years old and a true collector's item.
The luxuriant flower motifs of this Abadeh are elegant and varied. The graceful vegetative symbols representing flowers, leaves and branches are artfully intertwined.
The abstract, geometric composition creates the simple elegance of this Abadeh. The pattern flatters the design of the room and does not take the attention away from its furniture, decoration and architectural elements. It blends in fantastically with any surroundings and subtly complements the interior design of a room..
The edge of the rug is decorated with an edging (border). The border forms a glorious contrast to the center.
The repeating elements in the center field of this Abadeh rug have no specific center (so-called repeating pattern). The repeating pattern has a calming but not boring effect. Rugs with repeating patterns are also called patterned.
The background of this Abadeh is light red. The border features beige, dark blue and light red.
You are not the first to appreciate this Abadeh. It has had owners before you who have cherished and used it. It was hand knotted about 1960. It has been thoroughly cleaned and only partially restored condition but is in good condition. We have not completely restored this Abadeh because we think it is as it is a special charm. If you would like, we will of course restore the rug further for you. We can restore almost any rug to an almost perfect condition.
The pile of this Abadeh has been hand-knotted from high-quality virgin wool. Virgin wool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties; due to the wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on living climate and muffles sound. The weft and warp threads of this Abadeh are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and stretchable and, therefore, ideal for a durable backing fabric.
