Place of origin

Kilims (also Qilim) have traditionally been produced for personal use only. Nomads and farmers used and continue to use their kilims as rugs on the floor, but also as tent or wall hangings, blankets, pillows or bags. Jajim kilims are somewhat thinner than kilims and are therefore also used as bedspreads or throws.

Because kilims were constant companions in everyday life, the patterns, however naïve they may seem, always carry a personal message and have a meaning for the weavers and their families. This old Jajim Kilim is more than 40 years old and a true collector's item.

Patterns

The abstract, geometric composition creates the simple elegance of this Jajim Kilim. The pattern flatters the design of the room and does not take the attention away from its furniture, decoration and architectural elements. It blends in fantastically with any surroundings and subtly complements the interior design of a room..

The straight stripes of this Jajim Kilim organize and structure the pattern.
br /> The background of this Jajim Kilim is rusty red.

Condition

This Jajim Kilim has a story. It was hand woven about 1930. We have cleaned it thoroughly and restored it lovingly. Therefore it is in very good condition despite its age.

Material

The pile of this Jajim Kilim has been hand-knotted from high-quality virgin wool. Virgin wool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties; due to the wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on living climate and muffles sound.

The colors of this carpet change depending on which side it is viewed from. It depends on whether the light falls on the line or against the line of the pile. We have therefore taken pictures of this rug from different perspectives.
