Due to its climate and the caravans that passed through the country, it was, at least until the Safavids moved their seat of government to Isfahan, a flourishing metropolis known especially for its fabric and rug production. Even today it is still influenced by the elegance and splendor of that era. The Kashan rugs are artistic textile products made according to ancient traditions. The production in Kashan took place traditionally in the houses of the weavers. The pile is typically knotted from extremely soft wool and is, therefore, particularly dense and compact.  This old Kashan is \u003cb\u003e more than 40 years old\u003c\/b\u003e and a true collector's item.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003e\u003cb\u003ePatterns\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003e  The edge of the rug is decorated with an \u003cb\u003eedging (border)\u003c\/b\u003e. The border forms a beautiful contrast to the center.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e The luxuriant \u003cb\u003eflower motifs\u003c\/b\u003e of this Kashan are elegant and varied. The graceful vegetative symbols representing flowers, leaves and branches are artfully intertwined.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e In the middle of the central field of this Kashan is the symmetrical center, also called \u003cb\u003emedallion\u003c\/b\u003e. The design of the field is arranged in such a way that it gives the impression that the medallion is floating on the field.\n\u003cbr\/\u003e\u003cbr\/\u003e The background of this Kashan is dark blue.  The border features rusty red and beige. The rusty red center combines the colors blue gray and beige.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003e\u003cb\u003eCondition\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eYou are not the first to enjoy this Kashan. It has had owners before you who have cherished and used it.  It was hand knotted about \u003cb\u003e 1920\u003c\/b\u003e. It has been thoroughly cleaned and is in good but unrestored condition. We have not restored this Kashan, because we think it is as it is effect. If that's what you would like, we will of course restore the rug for you. Virgin wool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties; due to the wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on living climate and muffles sound. The weft and warp threads of this Kashan are made of \u003cb\u003ecotton\u003c\/b\u003e.
