Place of origin
Rudbar is a small town in the northwest of Iran. It is known for its olives and embroideries. Traditionally, few rugs are produced in Rudbar. These rugs are made following the Herat pattern. Special attention is paid to the border of Rudbar rugs. This usually features a light floral border in an artistic, filigree-like pattern.
The edge of the rug is decorated with an edging (border). The border forms a beautiful contrast to the center.
The luxuriant flower motifs of this Herati are elegant and varied. The graceful vegetative symbols representing flowers, leaves and branches are artfully intertwined.
The abstract, geometric composition creates the simple elegance of this Herati. The pattern flatters the design of the room and does not take the attention away from its furniture, decoration and architectural elements. It creates a pleasant atmosphere without dominating the style of the room.
In the middle of the central field of this Herati is the symmetrical center, also called medallion. The design of the field is arranged in such a way that it gives the impression that the medallion is floating on the field.
The background of this Herati is dark blue. The colors beige and rusty red dominate the overall impression. The border features rusty red, gray and dark blue. The beige center combines the colors rusty red and dark blue.
This Herati has had admirers before you. It was hand knotted about 2010. We have cleaned it thoroughly and restored it lovingly. Therefore it is in very good condition despite its age.
The pile of this Herati has been hand-knotted from high-quality virgin wool. Virgin wool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties; due to the wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on living climate and muffles sound. The weft and warp threads of this Herati are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and stretchable and, therefore, ideal for a durable backing fabric.
