Origin and design

Berber rugs were traditionally woven for domestic use. The predominantly female weavers played freely and spontaneously—without templates—with shapes and colors, following their personal ideas and individual intuitions. The traditional pattern of Moroccan Berber rugs therefore typically consists of geometric, sometimes colorful, abstract shapes and lines on monochrome backgrounds. Our Furrry Berber rugs are inspired by traditional Moroccan Berber rugs and their high pile. Architects and designers such as Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, Charles and Ray Eames, Frank Lloyd Wright, Marcel Breuer, and Arne Jacobsen appreciated the naive and clear design of these high-pile, nomadic Moroccan rugs. Their powerful, artistic expression has an extraordinary appeal and makes Berber rugs—apart from their plush feel—unique.
