300 × 250 cm is the size for wide living rooms: large sofa arrangements with a Récamier, seating groups set around a corner, rooms in which a narrow rug looks lost. Its effect is almost square, holding the room together in both directions. For rooms from roughly 30 square metres upwards. Every rug here is a hand-knotted one-of-a-kind piece.

Where this size really works

A sectional sofa with a chaise longue projects some 160 to 180 cm into the room. For it to stand entirely on the rug you need more depth than with a straight sofa — and that is exactly what this format gives you. Beneath a dining table of 180 × 100 cm, a good 60 cm is left all round for the chairs. In long, narrow rooms, by contrast, it looks squat; there, 350 × 250 cm is the better proportion.

What to look for when buying

In this size the choice of hand-knotted pieces is noticeably smaller than in the standard formats, because they take correspondingly longer on the loom. Expect a more limited range of patterns and do look at the neighbouring dimensions too — with a hand-knotted one-of-a-kind piece it is the individual rug that decides, not the standard measurement. In most cases yes, chaise and coffee table included. Measure the depth of your seating: from around 200 cm of projection, even this size becomes tight.

Is this size suitable for a dining table?

Yes, for tables up to about 180 × 100 cm. For longer tables, the better fit is 350 × 250 cm works better.

Why is the selection smaller here?
