400 × 300 cm is the largest size we stock regularly. It lays out the salon of a period apartment, carries a long table with ten chairs and comes into its own in rooms where any smaller size would look like a mat. Rugs of this size are individual finds. Anything larger we list under Custom sizes and oversized rugs.

Where this size really works

In a period room with high ceilings and tall windows, a rug this size takes up the proportions of the space. Beneath a table of 260 × 110 cm, 70 cm is left all round — enough for ten chairs to be pushed back freely. In the living area this format carries a complete arrangement of sofa, armchairs and side tables, without a single leg overhanging the edge.

What to look for when buying

At this size, transport and laying are a subject in their own right: depending on quality the rug weighs 40 kilograms and more, and it needs to lie flat for a few days before being laid so the roll marks can settle out. Check the shape of the room too, not just the square metres — a door that opens inwards decides the pile height you can go for. If you have questions about delivery, talk to us beforehand.
