Terra

Craftsmanship and timeless elegance come together in this rug in light grey and silver-grey. At around 160,000 knots per m², the workmanship is correspondingly demanding, visible in the precise drawing of the pattern and the finely worked details. Its 241 × 171 cm make it a living-room rug. It also cuts a fine figure in the bedroom beneath the bed. Colour and texture give any room a homely, exclusive note – a one-of-a-kind piece that will last for years.

Origin

In designing this hand-knotted rug, what mattered most to us was simplicity and paring things back to the essentials. The result is a modern, abstract design that sits beautifully in contemporary interiors. Despite its cool, pared-back look, this rug makes any room feel warmer and more welcoming.

Material

The pile of this Terra is made of hard-wearing viscose. The colloquial term "artificial silk" is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (TKG). Viscose (also viscose, acetate silk or rayon) is generally obtained from cellulose, a natural product, and therefore from the raw material wood. In India, however, the cellulose pulp is also obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process, the pulpy cellulose is drawn into a continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also described as continuous filament yarn. Because of the silky sheen of the yarn, viscose obtained from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk".

The weft and warp threads of this Terra are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic, which makes it particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation.
