90 × 60 cm at a glance
- Fits the entrance area, the kitchen, the space beside the bed and small nooks
- Short-pile, densely knotted qualities last longer here than high pile
- On tiles, laminate and parquet a non-slip underlay belongs underneath
- All pieces are hand-made one-of-a-kind pieces, so the dimensions vary by a few centimetres
Where this size really works
In front of a standard door 90 cm wide, this size covers exactly the area where shoes are set down and jackets taken off. In front of a kitchen run, on the other hand, it is tight — if you stand there for any length of time, a runner is the better option. Beside the bed it lies lengthways level with the middle of the mattress, right where you get up in the morning.
What to look for when buying
Small sizes take the heaviest wear per square metre. Firm wool qualities and Kelims handle that far better than soft, high pile. Patterned pieces with darker ground tones forgive marks in the entrance area, while plain light rugs show every shoe sole. If the rug lies on a smooth floor, an anti-slip underlay is not an accessory, it is a prerequisite.
FAQ
Common questions
For a single-leaf door, yes. As soon as two people put their shoes on and off at the same time, or the coat rack stands against the side wall, the size feels too small — in that case 150 × 100 cm is the better choice.
Short-pile, densely knotted wool. Wool takes up moisture without feeling clammy and recovers from pressure marks. Kelims are flat-woven and are also easy to shake out.
Hand-knotted rugs take shape on the loom, not in a machine. Deviations of a few centimetres are normal and a mark of quality, not a flaw. The exact dimensions of each piece are given in the product title.
