The Bedroom

Your retreat

The bedroom is your personal retreat, where you can switch off and relax. That makes it all the more important that you feel at home there with your rug. When choosing one, your own individual style should come first. The size of the rug depends on the overall size of your room and the size of your bed. It is a good idea to allow at least 50-60 cm of rug on both sides of the bed, so there is enough of it that you don't get cold feet when you get up in the morning.

Option 1

In a small bedroom, a smaller rug is the right choice. We recommend placing the rug under the lower two thirds of your bed. A rug that only starts just before the foot of the bed looks unbalanced. Here too, make sure there is enough rug on both sides of the bed, so that in the morning you step onto your rug rather than the cold floor. (For this option, choose rugs measuring at least 250 × 300 cm.)

Option 2

This option is ideal for large rooms. The rug should be large enough for the whole bed and the bedside tables to stand on it. Exact positioning matters here. Make sure the bed sits centrally between the two side edges of the rug. A poorly placed rug can throw a room visually off balance.

Option 3

Round rugs open up new design possibilities. You could, for example, place a round rug at the foot of your bed. This gives the room a playful feel. This option is especially well suited to children's rooms. It gives them a soft, comfortable floor to play on.

Option 4

Another popular option is to lay a runner beside the bed. This works well, for example, for beds placed in the corner of the room, where there is free floor space on one side only.
