Flower Power Floral Rug

This floral rug is a one-of-a-kind piece. At 202 × 151 cm it makes an ideal living room rug. It shows to equally fine effect in the bedroom beneath the bed. More than just a hard-wearing wool rug: the natural material and the handcrafted execution give it a character all of its own. The knot density is stated as 130000.

Origin

Contemporary aesthetics meet Oriental tradition – we found the inspiration for this floral beauty in the garden.

We reworked the traditional pattern templates, pared the design back and, above all, arranged the colours in a completely new way. The result is a fusion of traditional Oriental rug design and modern European aesthetics.

Material

The pile of the floral rug is made from a hard-wearing blend of wool and viscose. Viscose (also spelled viscose, and known as acetate silk or rayon) is always obtained from cellulose, a natural product, which means from the raw material wood. In India the cellulose pulp is obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process the pulpy cellulose is drawn out into one continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also referred to as continuous filament yarn. Because of the silky sheen of the yarn, viscose obtained from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk". The colloquially common term "artificial silk" is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (Textilkennzeichnungsgesetz, TKG).

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
