This one-of-a-kind piece in beige and cream white brings together traditional craftsmanship and timeless elegance. A knot density of approx. 250,000 knots per m² makes the painstaking work visible – right down to the fine detailing. At 290 × 85 cm it is well placed as a hallway runner. It also looks good in an entrance hall or on a stair landing. The harmonious colouring and the distinctive texture give any room an exclusive, homely atmosphere. A rug of this quality is far more than a piece of furnishing – it is a piece of traditional textile art with individual character and lasting value.

Origin

This rug was hand-knotted with the Persian knot in the small town of Abadeh and the surrounding villages. Abadeh lies between Isfahan and Shiraz. The brick-red colouring is typical of Abadeh rugs.

Material

The pile of this Abadeh was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a range of impressive properties: thanks to the natural lanolin in the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally proofed against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on the indoor climate and dampens sound.

The weft and warp threads of this Abadeh are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic, which makes it particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation weave.

Condition

You are not the first to take a liking to this Abadeh. It has had owners before you who valued and used it. In places, the edges could do with a small repair. It was knotted in around 2000. We have cleaned it thoroughly and restored it with care. Despite its age, it is therefore in very good condition.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
