This rug in light red combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance. At around X knots per m² the work behind it is correspondingly painstaking, as you can see in the precise drawing of the design and the finely worked details. Origin

In Persian (Farsi), Sofreh simply means cloth. Sofreh were traditionally made in a range of sizes for different tasks around the house. The Ardi Sofreh or bread-dough Sofreh (Ardi means flour in Farsi) are usually rather small and square and were made for storing bread. The somewhat larger squares, from around 150 cm x 150 cm upwards, are called Roukorsi or Sofreh Roukorsi, which translates roughly as "cloth over the stove". Longer, narrower Sofreh served as tablecloths.

This Old Sofreh is around 76 years old and a real collector's piece.

Material

This Sofreh was made by hand from wool (hand-spun, natural dyes).
