Old Sofreh
With its multi-coloured design, this rug combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance. At approx. X knots per m² the workmanship is correspondingly elaborate, visible in the precise drawing and the finely worked details. Its 80 × 63 cm make it a small living room rug. As a one-of-a-kind piece it brings individual character into the room and keeps its value far beyond short-lived trends.

Origin
In Persian (Farsi), Sofreh simply means cloth. Sofreh were traditionally made in a range of sizes for different tasks around the house. The Ardi Sofreh or bread-dough Sofreh (Ardi means flour in Farsi) are usually rather small and square and were made for storing bread. The somewhat larger squares, from around 150 cm x 150 cm upwards, are called Roukorsi or Sofreh Roukorsi, which translates roughly as "cloth over the stove". Longer, narrower Sofreh served as tablecloths. This Old Sofreh is around 76 years old and a real collector's piece.
Material
This Sofreh was made by hand from wool (hand-spun, natural dyes).
A note on the photos
Child labour? No thanks.
Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.
We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.
That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
