This rug in light brown and light red combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance. With a knot density of around 120,000 knots per m², the elaborate workmanship shows above all in the precise drawing and the fine execution of the details. At 153 × 97 cm, it is well suited as a bedside rug. It also cuts a fine figure in the bedroom or hallway. Origin

The pattern of this Oriental rug is inspired by classic Persian rug designs. This rug was knotted in Turkey.

This old Turkish Oriental rug is around 96 years old and a real collector's piece.

Material

The pile of this Old Turkish Oriental rug was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a range of impressive properties: thanks to the natural lanolin in the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and dampens sound.

The foundation (weft and warp threads) of this Old Turkish Oriental rug is made of new wool.

Condition

This Old Turkish Oriental Rug has a story to tell. It was knotted around 1930. It has been thoroughly cleaned and is in good but unrestored condition. Over the years the pile has become a little thinner. The edges and fringes of the rug are damaged in places and could do with a repair. A piece of the border is missing on both sides. We have not restored this Old Turkish Oriental Rug because we feel it has a special charm just as it is. If that is what you would prefer, we are of course happy to restore the rug for you. Either way, this Old Turkish Oriental Rug will give you pleasure for decades to come.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
