Old Turkish Oriental Rug
This rug in rust red combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance. With approx. 80,000 knots per m², the workmanship is correspondingly demanding, as you can see in the precise drawing of the design and the finely worked details. Its 88 × 53 cm make it a small living room rug. As a one-of-a-kind piece, it brings individual character to the room and holds its value far beyond short-lived trends.

Origin
The pattern of this Oriental rug is inspired by classic Persian rug designs. This rug was knotted in Turkey. This old Turkish Oriental rug is around 86 years old and a real collector's piece.
Material
The pile of this Old Turkish Oriental rug was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a range of impressive properties: thanks to the natural lanolin in the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and dampens sound. The foundation (weft and warp threads) of this Old Turkish Oriental rug is made of new wool.
Condition
This Old Turkish Oriental rug has a story to tell. It was knotted around 86. It has been thoroughly cleaned and is in good, though only partly restored, condition. The edges are damaged in places. We did not fully restore this Old Turkish Oriental rug because we feel it has a special presence just as it is. If that is what you would prefer, we will gladly carry the restoration further for you. We can bring almost any rug back to near-perfect condition.
A note on the photos
Child labour? No thanks.
Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.
We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.
That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
