Goltogh
This rug in red brings together traditional craftsmanship and timeless elegance. At approx. 160k-200k knots per m², the work involved is considerable, and it shows in the precise drawing of the design and the finely worked details. Its 188 × 125 cm make it a small living room rug. As a one-of-a-kind piece it lends a room character of its own and holds its value far beyond short-lived trends.

Origin
Goltogh (also Gholtogh, Goltog, Gholtog, Gholtug) rugs are knotted by settled Kurds. In quality and texture they are close to the Bijar. Their firm, hard handle comes – just as with the Bijar – from the special foundation weave. The cotton warp is stretched very tightly. The weft is beaten down extremely firmly. The knotting is done with the Turkish knot.Goltogh rugs are usually held in dark colours. Almost always a slender hexagon dominates the central field, its points at the top and bottom sometimes broken up by floral ornament. The filling motifs – blossoms, leaves and occasionally animals – are strongly stylised.
Material
The pile of this Goltogh was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. It is a renewable, natural raw material with a whole range of impressive properties: thanks to the wool's natural lanolin content, the surface repels droplets of water and is naturally protected against dirt. Wool also provides excellent thermal insulation, has a balancing effect on the indoor climate and absorbs sound.
A note on the photos
Child labour? No thanks.
Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.
We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.
That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
