Heriz
This rug in dark red brings together traditional craftsmanship and timeless elegance. At around 90,000 knots per m², the workmanship is correspondingly demanding, as you can see in the precise drawing of the design and the finely worked details. Its 346 × 256 cm make it a large living room rug. As a one-of-a-kind piece it brings individual character into the room and keeps its value far beyond short-lived trends.

Origin
Heriz (also spelled Heris) is an important place of origin for hand-knotted rugs. Heriz lies in the far west of Iran, on the border with Azerbaijan. Rugs from Heriz are famous for their beautiful geometric designs. Characteristic of Heriz rugs is the lustrous wool with its wonderful colouring.
Material
The pile of this Heriz was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. It is a renewable, natural raw material with a whole range of impressive properties: thanks to the wool's natural lanolin content, the surface repels droplets of water and is naturally protected against dirt. Wool also provides excellent thermal insulation, has a balancing effect on the indoor climate and absorbs sound. The weft and warp threads of this Heriz are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and flexible, which makes it especially suitable for a hard-wearing foundation.
Condition
This Heriz has a history. It was knotted around 46. It has been cleaned thoroughly and is in good, though only partly restored, condition. On closer inspection you will notice that a narrow strip of the border is missing on both sides. We have not fully restored this Heriz because we feel it has a special presence just as it is. If you would like us to, we are of course happy to carry the restoration further for you. We can bring almost any rug back to near-perfect condition.
A note on the photos
Child labour? No thanks.
Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.
We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.
That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
