This one-of-a-kind piece in old rose, salmon, apricot unites traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance. With a knot density of around 120,000 knots per m², the demanding work shows above all in the precise drawing of the design and the fine execution of the details. At 298 × 87 cm it is well suited as a runner or hallway rug. The harmonious colouring and the characteristic texture give any room an exclusive, homely atmosphere. A rug of this quality is far more than a piece of furnishing – it is a piece of traditional textile art with individual character and lasting value.

Origin

Hosseinabad (also spelled Hossenabad) is a town in north-western Iran. Unlike all other Persian rugs, however, Hosseinabad rugs are knotted in the region around Tuserkan rather than in the town of the same name. Hosseinabad rugs belong to the family of Hamadan rugs. Thanks to their good, durable material and comparatively affordable price, Hosseinabad rugs are very popular. The pattern of Hosseinabad rugs is similar to the Herati pattern. They are often graced by a diamond-shaped medallion that interrupts the repeating design. A deep red is almost always used as the ground colour of the field.

Material

The pile of this Hosseinabad was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a number of impressive qualities: thanks to the natural grease content of the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and dampens sound.

The weft and warp threads of this Hosseinabad are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic, which makes it particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation weave.

Condition

You are not the first to take a liking to this Hosseinabad. It has had owners before you who valued and used it. The pile has become only a little thinner over the years, and the edges are slightly damaged in a few places. It was knotted around 46. We have cleaned it thoroughly and restored it with care. Despite its age, it is therefore in very good condition.
