This hand-knotted modern designer rug is a real eye-catcher and lifts any modern interior. Despite its contemporary design, it makes every room feel more homely and welcoming.

Material

The pile of this Mood was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. The pattern has been worked in pure silk, so that the colours of this Mood's pattern shine in many different facets, depending on how the light falls. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a range of impressive qualities: thanks to the natural lanolin in the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and absorbs sound. Silk is harvested by hand from the cocoons of the silkworm. Because the individual silk filaments are extremely long, very fine yarns can be spun that remain tear-resistant despite their light weight. This fine yarn makes it possible to tie smaller knots and so to create more detailed patterns. That is why the finest rugs in the world are hand-knotted from pure silk.

The weft and warp threads of this Mood are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic, which makes it especially suited to a hard-wearing foundation.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
