Origin
This hand-knotted modern designer rug is a real eye-catcher and lifts any modern interior. Despite its contemporary design, it makes every room feel more homely and welcoming.
Pattern
The clear, abstract design of this contemporary rug speaks especially to people who love simple, modern interiors and architecture. The design idea for this rug comes from Europe. Free from the rules of traditional rug patterns, it was developed for Western art and interior styles. That is not an entirely new development, though. The roots of European rug design go back to Art Deco rugs, which were made to Western specifications between the late twenties and the fifties.
The lavish floral motifs of this Mood are elegant and full of variety. The graceful plant forms, showing blossoms, leaves and branches, are artfully intertwined.
The pattern, inspired by classical Oriental ornament, creates the impression that this hand-knotted rug already has a long history behind it. The design looks washed out or faded, which makes it appear almost abstract. In reality this Mood is of course new and part of the latest generation of contemporary rug designs. It builds a bridge between modern design and interiors and classical Oriental motifs. The pattern is restrained and yet present.
The background of this Mood is light brown. The overall impression is also dominated by beige and light brown.
Material
The pile of this Mood is a hard-wearing blend of wool and viscose. Viscose – also called acetate silk or rayon – is generally obtained from cellulose, a natural product, and therefore from the raw material wood. In India the cellulose pulp is obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process the pulpy cellulose is drawn into a continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also referred to as a continuous filament yarn. Because of the silky sheen of the yarn, viscose made from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk", bamboo silk. The colloquial term "artificial silk" is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (TKG). The weft and warp threads of this Mood are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic and therefore particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation.
A note on the photos
Child labour? No thanks.
Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.
We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.
That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
