Origin

When designing this hand-knotted rug, what mattered most to us was simplicity and a focus on the essentials. The result is a modern, straight-lined design that sits beautifully in contemporary interiors. Despite its cool, understated look, this rug makes any room feel homelier and more welcoming.

Pattern

Individual areas of the pattern have a higher pile than the rest of this rug. The patterns of modern rugs are tending to become simpler and more abstract. The play with different pile heights is new and has replaced more elaborate and more insistent patterns. Because parts of the pattern have been brought out two-dimensionally, however, the rug is anything but dull. The accentuation is out of the ordinary and creates an effect all of its own.

The abstract, geometric composition is what gives this Straight its understated elegance. The pattern flatters the design of the room and never takes attention away from the furniture, the decoration and the architectural elements. It fits beautifully into any setting and complements the furnishings of a room in a subtle way.

Material

The pile of this Straight is made of a hard-wearing blend of wool and Viscose. Viscose, also known as acetate silk or rayon, is generally obtained from the natural product cellulose, in other words from wood as a raw material. In India the cellulose pulp is obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process, the pulpy cellulose is drawn into a continuous textile yarn. That is why viscose is also called a continuous filament yarn. Because of the silky sheen of the yarn, viscose obtained from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk", bamboo silk. The colloquial term "artificial silk" is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (TKG). The weft and warp threads of this Straight are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and stretchy, which makes it especially suited to a hard-wearing foundation.
