Origin

In designing this hand-knotted rug, what mattered most to us was simplicity and paring things back to the essentials. The result is a modern, abstract design that sits beautifully in contemporary interiors. Despite its cool, pared-back look, this rug makes any room feel warmer and more welcoming.

Material

The pile of this Terra is made from a hard-wearing blend of wool and viscose. Viscose (also known as rayon or acetate silk) is generally obtained from cellulose, a natural material, and therefore from wood. In India, the cellulose pulp is obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process, the pulpy cellulose is drawn out into a continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also referred to as a continuous filament yarn. Because of the yarn's silky sheen, viscose made from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk". The colloquial term "Kunstseide" (artificial silk) is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (TKG).

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
