Terra

This rug in gold combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance. At approx. 160,000 knots per m², the workmanship is correspondingly demanding, as you can see in the precise drawing and the finely worked details. Its 203 × 145 cm make it a small living room rug. As a one-of-a-kind piece it brings individual character into the room and holds its value far beyond short-lived trends.

Origin

In designing this hand-knotted rug, what mattered most to us was simplicity and paring things back to the essentials. The result is a modern, abstract design that sits beautifully in contemporary interiors. Despite its cool, pared-back look, this rug makes any room feel warmer and more welcoming.

Material

The pile of this Terra is made from a hard-wearing blend of wool and viscose. Viscose (also known as rayon or acetate silk) is generally obtained from cellulose, a natural material, and therefore from wood. In India, the cellulose pulp is obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process, the pulpy cellulose is drawn out into a continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also referred to as a continuous filament yarn. Because of the yarn's silky sheen, viscose made from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk". The colloquial term "Kunstseide" (artificial silk) is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (TKG).

The weft and warp threads of this Terra are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic, which makes it particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation.
