Turkish Oriental rug

Craftsmanship and timeless elegance meet in this rug in dark red and dark blue. A knot density of around 120,000 knots per m² makes the elaborate workmanship visible – right down to the fine execution of the details. At 100 × 60 cm it is well placed as a bedside rug. It shows just as well in a reading corner. Colouring and texture give any room a homely, exclusive note – a one-of-a-kind piece that will last for years.

Origin

The pattern of this Oriental rug is inspired by classic Persian rug designs. This rug was knotted in Turkey.

Material

The pile of this Turkish Oriental rug was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. It is a renewable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties: thanks to the wool's natural lanolin content, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and dampens sound.

The foundation (weft and warp threads) of this Turkish Oriental rug is made of new wool.

Condition

You are not the first to take a liking to this Turkish Oriental rug. It has had owners before you who valued and used it. It was knotted around 1970. We have cleaned it thoroughly and lovingly restored it. Despite its age, it is therefore in very good condition.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.

Child labour? No thanks.

Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.

We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.

That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
