There is only one rug like this one in dark blue and dark red: it brings together traditional craftsmanship and timeless elegance. The knot density of approx. 120,000 knots per m² makes the painstaking workmanship visible – right down to the fine execution of the details. At 181 × 122 cm, it is well placed as a rug for the bedroom or study. It also makes a fine impression in a child's room or a dressing room. Colouring and texture lend the room a welcoming atmosphere – with a character no other rug shares.

Origin

This vintage patchwork rug has been assembled from pieces of various hand-knotted rugs. The sound sections were cut out of pre-owned rugs and joined together into a new rug. The pieces were chosen with care so that pattern and colour work together. The seams between the individual sections are sturdy and the back of the rug is backed throughout. In this way we give pre-owned rugs a second life in a more contemporary guise. Using old rugs as the raw material for new products saves resources and is sustainable.

Material

The pile of this vintage patchwork rug was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties: thanks to the wool's natural lanolin content, the surface repels water droplets and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also provides excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and dampens sound.

The weft and warp threads of this vintage patchwork rug are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic, which makes it particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation weave.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
