Zen

This rug in cream white brings together traditional craftsmanship and timeless elegance. The knot density of around 60,000 knots per m² makes the intricate workmanship visible – right down to the fine execution of the details. At 310 × 243 cm, it is well placed as a large living-room rug. It also cuts a fine figure in the dining room under a table for six to eight people. This one-of-a-kind piece brings individual character into the room and keeps its value far beyond short-lived trends.

Origin

The modern, light-toned rugs in our Zen collection are made from pure new wool. They are more than just a decorative element. They are a true masterpiece of the rug-knotting craft.

The finely knotted ridges create an enchanting pattern. The light, soft texture and the varying pile heights of the Zen collection calm the senses and create a pleasant atmosphere. Our Zen rugs are understated, meditative rugs with soul.

Material

The pile of this Zen is made from a hard-wearing blend of wool and viscose. Viscose (also spelled viscose, and known as acetate silk or rayon) is always obtained from cellulose, a natural product – in other words from the raw material wood. In India the cellulose pulp is obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process the pulpy cellulose is drawn into one continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also described as continuous filament yarn. Because of the silky sheen of the yarn, viscose obtained from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk". The colloquial term "artificial silk" is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (TKG).

The weft and warp threads of this Zen are made of cotton. This versatile material is both tear-resistant and supple, which makes it particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation.
