Rugs from Bijar
Bijar is located in the province of Kermanshah in the northwest of Iran. Bijar rugs are among the most solid and highest quality oriental rugs. The majority of the population in Bijar are Kurds.
A particularly thick weft yarn, which is extremely hard, is beaten into the Kurdish Bijar rug. The result is a very hard, particularly durable rug. The younger Bijar rugs in particular are adorned with the typical Herati pattern, also known as the fish pattern (or mahi pattern).
