Origin

Ikat is a weaving technique in which the yarn is dyed in sections before it is woven. The thread is wound onto a drum and dyed across its running direction in different colours or using a batik method. Later, in the woven fabric, this creates striking geometric patterns and textures that always look slightly irregular.

The front of our cushions is made of Ikat fabric. The back is plain and kept in a single colour.

Material

The pile of this Ikat cushion was made from cotton. The cotton plant is grown in most rug-producing countries and is therefore a very popular material for rug making.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
