Kordi
This one-of-a-kind piece in pink combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance. With a knot density of around 120,000 knots per m², the elaborate workmanship shows above all in the precise drawing and the fine execution of the details. At 353 × 137 cm it works well as a living room rug. The harmonious colouring and the characteristic texture give any room an exclusive, homely atmosphere. A rug of this quality is far more than a furnishing item – it is a piece of traditional textile art with individual character and lasting value.

Origin
Kordi (also Kord or Kurdi) is a collective term for rugs from Iran that are hand-knotted by Kurds. Koliai and Khorasan rugs are therefore, if you like, Kordi rugs too. As a rule, Kurdi rugs come from the Khorasan province. Less often they also come from the Turkmen-Afghan region. In their rug knotting, the Kurds draw on every one of the classic provenances (source, origin). They don't copy the traditional patterns slavishly, though, but reinterpret them in their own distinctive way. The colouring in particular often departs considerably from the original patterns. That's why you'll find the most varied designs among Kordi rugs, though usually in a rather dark palette.
Material
The pile of this Kordi was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties: thanks to the natural lanolin content of the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also provides excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on the indoor climate and dampens sound. The foundation (weft and warp threads) of this Kordi is made of new wool.
Condition
You are not the first to take a liking to this Kordi. It has had owners before you who valued and used it. It was knotted around 86. It has been thoroughly cleaned and is in good, though only partially restored, condition. Only the fringes of the rug are slightly damaged in places. We have not fully restored this Kordi because we feel it has a special charm just as it is. If that is what you would like, we will of course carry on restoring the rug for you. We can bring almost any rug back to near-perfect condition.
A note on the photos
Child labour? No thanks.
Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.
We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.
That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
