Sofreh
Craftsmanship and timeless elegance come together in this rug in dark grey/anthracite. A knot density of around X knots per m² makes the painstaking work visible – right down to the finely drawn details. At 110 × 110 cm, it is well placed as a small living room rug. Colouring and texture give any room a homely, exclusive note – a one-of-a-kind piece made to last for years.

Origin
In Persian (Farsi), Sofreh simply means cloth. Sofreh were traditionally made in a range of sizes for different tasks around the house. The Ardi Sofreh or bread-dough Sofreh (Ardi means flour in Farsi) are usually rather small and square and were made for storing bread. The somewhat larger squares, from around 150 cm x 150 cm upwards, are called Roukorsi or Sofreh Roukorsi, which translates roughly as "cloth over the stove". Longer, narrower Sofreh served as tablecloths.
Material
This Sofreh was made by hand from wool.
A note on the photos
Child labour? No thanks.
Child labour? No thanks. Children belong in school, not at a knotting frame or a loom. For us it therefore goes without saying that we only offer rugs made under fair conditions and without child labour.
We attach particular importance to humane working conditions and tolerate no child labour at any of our producers. Thank you for helping us to ensure fair conditions.
That is why we support the initiative Care & Fair against child labour in the rug trade.
