Place of origin
When designing this hand-knotted rug, simplicity and minimalism were particularly important to us. The result is a modern, abstract design that fits perfectly into modern interiors. Despite its cool, simple design, this rug makes every room more cozy and comfortable.
Patterns
The clear, abstract design of this contemporary rug appeals especially to people who love simple, modern interior design and architecture. The design idea for this rug comes from Europe. Without being bound to the rules of traditional rug patterns, it was developed with western art and interior design style in mind. This is not a completely new innovation. The roots of European rug design can be traced back to Art Deco rugs, which were produced between the late twenties and fifties following Western specifications.
The repeating elements in the center field of this Terra rug have no specific center (so-called repeating pattern). The repeating pattern has a calming but not boring effect. Rugs with repeating patterns are also called patterned.
The pattern, inspired by classical oriental embellishments, gives the impression that this hand-knotted rug has a long history. The pattern looks as if it has been washed out or faded and therefore almost abstract. In fact, this Terra is of course new and part of the latest generation of contemporary rug designs. It is a bridge between modern designs and interiors and classic oriental motifs. The pattern is subtle yet present.
Some areas of the design have a higher pile than other parts of this rug. The patterns of modern rugs tend to be simpler and more abstract. The play with different pile heights is new and has replaced more elaborate and bold patterns. As a result of the two-dimensional highlighting of the pattern, the rug does not look boring at all. This accentuation is extraordinary and has a unique effect.
The background of this Terra is blue gray.
Material
The pile of this Terra is made of a durable mixture of wool and viscose. Viscose also acetate silk or rayon is generally obtained from the natural product of cellulose, in other words from the raw material, wood. In India the cellulose mass is obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process, the pulpy cellulose is pulled into a continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also referred to as the continuous filament yarn. Because of the silky sheen of the yarn, viscose obtained from bamboo is also called "Bamboo Silk". The colloquially used designation "artificial silk" is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act TKG. The weft and warp threads of this Terra are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and stretchable and, therefore, ideal for a durable backing fabric.
