Yalameh belongs to the knotting region of Isfahan in the western part of Central Iran. Its characteristic feature is the colorfulness and the joviality of colors. Typical color compositions include royal blue, deep red and a subtle green. Its knotting is very fine and the shearing very short compared to other nomadic rugs.
In the panel, which is divided into exact geometric shapes (usually squares or lozenges), star or animal motifs are introduced. The so-called "se-hoze" motif, a basic design with three vertically arranged hexagonal medallions, in which star and animal motifs are seemingly randomly interspersed, is also frequently used, especially in larger Yalameh rugs. "Se-hoze" literally means "three ponds". The star and animal motifs are thus incorporated as reflections in the representation of the three ponds.
The abstract, geometric composition creates the simple elegance of this Yalameh. The pattern flatters the design of the room and does not take the attention away from its furniture, decoration and architectural elements. It creates a pleasant atmosphere without dominating the style of the room.
The embellished edging (border) forms a excellent contrast to the center and creates a transition at the edge of the rug.
The repeating elements in the center field of this Yalameh rug have no specific center (so-called repeating pattern). The repeating pattern has a calming but not boring effect. Rugs with repeating patterns are also called patterned.
The background of this Yalameh is dark brown. The border is beige.
The pile of this Yalameh has been hand-knotted from high-quality virgin wool. Virgin wool is obtained through the gentle shearing of sheep. Virgin wool is a sustainable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties; due to the wool's natural fat content, the surface repels water droplets and is thus naturally impervious to dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, has a regulating effect on living climate and muffles sound. The backing (weft and warp threads) of this Yalameh is made of virgin wool.
