Place of origin

In the geographical region of Anatolia, or Asia Minor, and bordering areas, rugs like this one are traditionally handmade for personal use, local trade and sometimes also for export. Anatolian rugs are an important part of the culture and heritage of modern Turkey. Throughout the long history of Anatolia and the craft of rug making, different cultural influences have been integrated into the designs. Traces of Byzantine ornamentation can be found in rug designs, as well as traditional patterns and decorations of the Turkic peoples, who migrated there from Central Asia. Patterns
