Origin

This hand-knotted modern designer rug is a real eye-catcher and lifts any modern interior. Despite its contemporary design, it makes every room feel more homely and welcoming.

Pattern

A lightly suggested border frames the edge of this rug.

The surface of this Mood has a mottled look. Shifts in tone and the light-and-dark shading of the pile yarn make the colours shimmer and keep the rug from showing dirt. These so-called colour shifts, known as abrash, give the rug a livelier feel. The mottling comes about because the wool of this Mood was hand-spun. During dyeing, the natural dyes are absorbed to differing degrees.

The overall impression is dominated by terracotta and yellow. The border is worked in terracotta, yellow and light brown.

Material

The pile of this Mood is made of hard-wearing viscose. The colloquial term "artificial silk" is not permitted under the German Textile Labelling Act (TKG). Viscose – also called acetate silk or rayon – is obtained in principle from the natural product cellulose, and thus from the raw material wood. In India, however, the cellulose pulp is also obtained from bamboo. In an elaborate process, the pulpy cellulose is drawn into a continuous textile yarn. This is why viscose is also referred to as continuous filament yarn. Because of the silky sheen of the yarn, viscose made from bamboo is also known as "Bamboo Silk". The weft and warp threads of this Mood are made of cotton. This versatile material is tear-resistant and elastic, which makes it particularly well suited to a hard-wearing foundation.
