Origin

Tetex rugs come from the manufactory of the same name, which produced rugs in Germany (and later in Belgium) in the 20th century. Tetex rugs were usually tufted – a process that made it possible to produce high-quality rugs at comparatively high speed. The result was rugs with an Oriental look whose distinctive, often large-scale patterns still delight today. A wonderful retro rug that recalls times gone by – and today is as modern as ever. This old Tetex rug is around 70 years old and a real collector's piece.

Pattern

The ornate border forms a wonderful contrast with the centre and shapes the transition at the edge of the rug.

The lavish floral motifs of this Tetex rug are elegant and full of variety. The graceful plant symbols, depicting blossoms, leaves and branches, are artfully intertwined.

The background of this Tetex rug is beige. Overall, the rug glows in multiple colours. The border is worked in dark blue, olive green and multiple colours.

Condition

You are not the first to take a liking to this Tetex rug. It has had owners before you who valued and used it. The pile is worn in places. The rug has a few smaller stains. It was hand-tufted around 1950. We have cleaned it thoroughly and lovingly restored it. Despite its age, it is therefore in very good condition.

Material

The pile of this Tetex rug was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a whole range of impressive qualities: thanks to the natural lanolin in the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is naturally protected against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and absorbs sound.
