Origin

Heriz (also spelled Heris) is an important place of origin for hand-knotted rugs. Heriz lies in the far west of Iran, on the border with Azerbaijan. Rugs from Heriz are famous for their beautiful geometric designs. Characteristic of Heriz rugs is the lustrous wool with its wonderful colouring.

Material

The pile of this Heriz was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. It is a renewable, natural raw material with a whole range of impressive properties: thanks to the wool's natural lanolin content, the surface repels droplets of water and is naturally protected against dirt. Wool also provides excellent thermal insulation, has a balancing effect on the indoor climate and absorbs sound.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
