Origin

Using an elaborate process, we give some of our old Oriental rugs a more modern look. We call these rugs vintage rugs. Vintage rugs are design objects in which traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary interior culture. The new dyeing lends the traditional patterns of Oriental rugs a timeless character. Rugs that are no longer in fashion because of their colouring are given a second life in a more modern guise. Using old rugs as raw material for new products is sustainable and easy on resources.

Material

The pile of this vintage rug was hand-knotted from high-quality new wool. New wool is obtained by gently shearing sheep. New wool is a renewable, natural raw material with a number of impressive properties: thanks to the natural oils in the wool, the surface repels droplets of water and is therefore naturally protected against dirt. Wool also offers excellent thermal insulation, helps regulate the indoor climate and dampens sound.

A note on the photos

The colours of this rug change depending on which side you look at it from. It all depends on whether the light falls with the nap of the pile or against it. That is why we have photographed the rug from several angles.
